A LITTLE ABOUT ME
DonTrell is a graduate of Roswell High School where he was a Hall of Fame athlete playing Football, Basketball, and Golf. During his time at Roswell High School, DonTrell was a star running back where he helped his team win the 2000 State Championship and was a member of the 2000 Parade All-America Team as one of the best football players in the country. He rushed for over 6,500 yards in his prep career and carried a 4.2 GPA.
Moore who received scholarship offers across the country chose to stay close to home and attended the University of New Mexico where he eventually became a four-time First Team All-Mountain West selection at running back (2002-05)and is the only player in MWC history to achieve this honor. Moore, the 2002 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year capped off his career by being named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year (2005) and was named honorable mention All- America by Sports Illustrated. Moore was just the sixth football player in the history of NCAA/FBS to rush for 1000+ yards all four seasons. Despite finishing 16 years ago Moore holds nearly every major rushing record at UNM. When he finished his career, he was the Mountain West’s all-time leading rusher. He is the only four-time team MVP in school history and was inducted into the University of New Mexico Hall of Honor in 2018. On October 16, 2021, he was inducted into the Lobo Football Ring of Honor as one of the greatest Lobos of all time. He graduated from UNM in 2005 with a degree in Criminology and then spent time in the NFL with the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As DonTrell began his professional career he became a Program Manager at the Youth Services Center, where he was able to positively affect the lives of many at-risk youth in addition to creating programs that assisted staff as they helped create a positive change and mentality in those youth. “DonTrell Moore was a record-breaking student-athlete who is still involved in our program,” said University of New Mexico Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez. “He is a wonderful role model for our student-athletes, and his former work with at-risk youth at the Juvenile Detention Center in Albuquerque is to be admired.”
